When submitting events for the Community Calendar, please make sure they are either free to the public or that all proceeds support a local charity.

Please submit at least two (2) weeks prior to your event. Events will be posted on the community calendar one (1) week prior to your event.

If you would want your event announced on the air, please contact Randy Pierce, Director of Business Development, for special event packages that will promote your event to our listeners and support the ministry of WCQR.

MPCC to host Esports: Everything You Need to Know program

September 16 @ 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm

Memorial Park Community Center, 510 Bert St, invites high school students to learn more about college opportunities available through Esports with guest speakers from East Tennessee State University. Offered to students ages 14-19, this free presentation will be held 4:30-5:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16 in the MPCC dining room. The most common form of Esports is organized, multiplayer video game competitions, particularly between professional players, individually or as teams. ETSU offers an online certificate in Esports management, as well as a program with multiple teams competing in League of Legend and Overwatch tournaments and scrimmages.
This program is limited to 25 participants due to social distancing guidelines. Attendees must preregister in person at MPCC or by calling 423-434-5749. Registration will be open Sept.1-15.
