How to get an appointment for the Covid-19 Vaccine

Sullivan County

In Sullivan County, there are two distribution sites: Bristol Dragway and Kingsport Civic Auditorium.

The Bristol site is the only mass vaccination site in the region. It’s first come, first served. Lines are usually long and supplies run out quickly, so make sure you get there early.

In Kingsport, appointments are required, but none are available until at least February 5.

Sign-up by calling 423-279-2777. No appointments are required for second doses at either site.

Northeast Tennessee

In other Northeast Tennessee counties, there’s a waiting list with thousands of people. You can sign up online or by calling 423-979-4689.

When vaccines come in, you’ll be contacted with a time and place to go to a drive-thru clinic where your slot is guaranteed.

Southwest Virginia

In Southwest Virginia, all vaccines are by appointment only.

Because of limited supplies, slots are only available for people age 65 and up. Health departments will work down the list of other people in phase 1b as supplies arrive.

Sign-ups are done over the phone. You can call your county health department.

In Bristol and Washington and Smyth Counties, all health department appointments are booked for the week. Other counties are building a waiting list.

“It can be frustrating for people as they’re calling and not able to get through with busy signs,” population health manager Breanne Forbes Hubbard said. “We do apologize. We’re doing our best to get people scheduled as quickly as we can.”

You can also call a Food City or certain independent pharmacies. Ballad Health Medical Associates patients can get it through their doctor.
