Oasis of Kingsport Seeking Volunteers

Local women’s ministry, Oasis of Kingsport, needs the community’s help to get ready for its grand opening.

Oasis serves women from all backgrounds and not just for laundry needs. The faith-based organization helps with agency referrals and offers a support system.

The nonprofit secured a new location and its forever home just outside downtown. They’re asking the community’s help with building, cleaning and doing simple renovations.

A builder’s meeting is set for May 28 at 6:30 p.m.

The three Saturdays following are all scheduled as community work days.

  • May 29th, June 5th & 12th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Groups can volunteer in a three-hour block: 9 a.m. to 12 a.m., 12 a.m. to 1 p.m. (lunch), 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

“This space is allowing us to be able to have the room we need to be able to expand and do what we need to do,” said Executive Director and Women’s Minister Shantell Bogle. “There’s miracles all in it. I mean, God has worked it completely out for us to be here. It’s just getting the rest of the stuff done for us to be able to move in.”

They’re also in need of donations, like paint and lumber for some small builds.
