Recognized by many as a combination of line, square and swing dancing, contra dancing is a form of folk dancing rich in the Appalachian heritage. Historically, folk dancing was used to meet and have fun with others in the area. The dance is a family friendly event where everyone is welcome, no partners are needed and there is no age requirement. The saying in Contra dancing is…. If you can walk, you can dance. So come out and enjoy live music and a great time with the Historic Jonesborough Dance Society.
The dance will be from 7:30 pm – 10:30 pm and will feature the musician Rhea & Keegan playing with Claire Takemori calling. At 7 pm, newcomers can get an introduction to the dance.
